Columbian President Gustavo Petro announced today (Wednesday) that his country would be breaking diplomatic ties with Israel over the war in Gaza.

This decision comes after continued deterioration in relations between the two countries since the war broke out, including a public comparison of Israel to the Nazis, an end to weapons purchases from Israel, and threats to end diplomatic relations if Israel did not heed a non-binding UN Security Resolution calling for a cease fire.
