In the face of Hezbollah saber-rattling and warnings from senior electricity managers that Israel faces a potential catastrophic blackout in a war with Hezbollah, Energy Minister Eli Cohen released a statement today (Thursday), reassuring the public that the odds of such a scenario are "low."

Cohen emphasized that Israel has a large and diversified stockpile of energy reserves, as well as various efforts to fortify and protect electricity production and supply.

That said, he warned: "It's important for me to clarify to our enemies: If Israel has a blackout of hours, Lebanon will have a blackout of months."
