President Trump announced on TruthSocial today (Thursday) that Mike Waltz will be nominated as the United States' ambassador to the UN, after Waltz stepped down as the President's National Security Adviser.

In his statement, Trump said that in his time in the military, in Congress, and as National Security Adviser, Waltz did his best to put America's interests first, and he expressed confidence that he would do the same in his new role.

Trump's previous nominee, Elise Stefanik, was forced to withdraw her nomination and return to Congress due to fears that the GOP's majority could further shrink in the subsequent special elections.

Waltz responded on X that "I’m deeply honored to continue my service to President Trump and our great nation."
