Katz: “Brazil’s Lula Is a Puppet of Iran and Hamas”
Katz unleashes sharp attack on Brazil’s leader, claiming Lula betrayed the Jewish people by quitting the global fight against antisemitism and aligning with Iran.

Defense Minister Israel Katz published a striking AI-generated cartoon Tuesday mocking Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, branding him an “unrepentant antisemite and Hamas supporter” after Brazil withdrew from the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).
The cartoon, shared on Katz’s social media, shows Lula barefoot and engulfed in smoke, manipulated like a puppet by Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. It was stamped with the “Grok” AI watermark from X.
Alongside the image, Katz wrote:
“When Lula insulted the memory of the Holocaust during my tenure as Foreign Minister, I declared him persona non grata in Israel until he apologized. Now he has revealed his true colors as a hardcore antisemite and Hamas supporter by pulling Brazil out of IHRA—the international body created to combat antisemitism and hatred against Israel. This places Brazil alongside regimes like Iran, which openly deny the Holocaust and threaten to annihilate the State of Israel.”
Katz stressed that Israel would defend itself with or without Lula’s support:
“As Israel’s Defense Minister, I assure you — we will know how to defend ourselves against the axis of radical Islam, with or without Lula and his allies. It is a shame for the wonderful Brazilian people and Israel’s many friends in Brazil that this is their president. Better days will come for relations between our nations.”
Not the First Time
This isn’t the first time Katz has used cartoons to make a point. While serving as Foreign Minister, he posted an image depicting EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell entangled in the tentacles of Iran’s Supreme Leader, further underscoring his combative approach toward leaders perceived as hostile to Israel.
