On the eve of the dramatic summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a deep and thought-provoking call emerges from Torat HaMedinah. The institute who's rabbis urge a re-examination of the issue of hostage return and prisoner exchanges, not solely through political or security lenses, but through spiritual and strategical perspectives that touch on the very destiny of the Israeli American Alliance.

Rabbi Yaakov Yehuda Yakir, head of the Beit Midrash, emphasizes that although Pidyon Shvuyim (the redemption of captives) is among the highest of all acts, its character shifts in times of war.

"When abduction becomes part of a national or ideological conflict, we are no longer dealing with the rescue of an individual, but with a collective struggle that demands clear victory. In such a context, the permissibility of releasing terrorists may become a prohibition, because it strengthens the enemy. National victory is the vector in war. Any hostage deal must serve this purpose. In war, the individual enlists for the collective. The nation unites for the sake of triumph, which means dismantling Hamas, demilitarizing Gaza, and relocating its population."

Trump as a Covenant Ally - With the Spirit of the Bible Leads

Trump and Netanyahu now stand at a crossroads on the eve of their fateful meeting. The President is clearly a leader with biblical values. He has publicly stated that God saved his life and that he was appointed by the God of hosts to assist the world and humanity.

He appointed devout figures such as David Friedman as Ambassador to the Holy Land, followed by Christian believer and lover of Israel Mike Huckabee.

Trump is not just a political ally but a spiritual one. He recognizes the Jewish people's right to the Land of Israel and believes, as the Torah, that this is not merely a territorial conflict, but a spiritual and moral cause.

Thus, Trump, being both a pragmatic, and spiritual leader, presents a proposal that includes the relocation of Gazans to a third country. Morally and strategically, this plan reduces the future terrorist base and relieves Gaza of its suffering, and spiritually it also adheres to the principle of not surrendering to evil. At any point. Not for a deal, and not for any other justification.

"A Nation is Measured by Its Spirit, Not Just Its Technology"

We are being tested, not by missiles, Iron Domes, or B-2 bombers, but by spirit. As Rabbi Yakir says:

"The issue of hostages goes beyond charity or helping others. We must recognize that we are dealing with the laws of warfare that determine the future of our nation. It may be permissible, even necessary, to redeem captives, but only if done within a victorious strategy that strengthens our nation’s spirit. And Trump offers a winning plan that must not be abandoned."

Relocation as a Pillar of Victory

This is why the vision of relocation must be central to a broader plan of moral and spiritual triumph. What is the point of releasing prisoners to Gaza if Gaza is soon to be evacuated entirely?

Netanyahu, who has achieved remarkable successes with Trump in the past six months, must continue in the same spirit of cutting off evil, a process that would reach its peak in the Trump Plan.

A deal including relocation would encompass both Israel’s military strength and the moral strength of the U.S.–Israel alliance. It would be the New Covenant of Hope.

Let us remember in the Land of the Bible, we must act according to the spirit of the Bible. Trump, as one who believes that God saved his life and in our bond to the Land of the Bible, must take his place in the mosaic of a full spiritual victory.

With all due respect to our superiority over Iran and our cutting-edge technology, now we are being tested by spirit. And spirit must triumph through determination, perseverance, and faith. And yes, through offering the Gazans a better future- elsewhere.

In Conclusion the Trump-Netanyahu meeting is not merely a political event. It is a historic opportunity to renew the Covenant of Spirit and Faith, not out of weakness, but from historical strength embodied in tangible actions.

No detours. No softening of hearts. A Jewish and American strength based on eternal principles: Evil must never be surrendered to. Terror must never be justified. The laws of the Torah and the land must never be abandoned - even at the price of a deal.

Only then can we prevail. In spirit. In faith. Standing proudly for the eternal principles of the eternal nation, in the eternal land. With our allies’ interest in clear view. Only that can ensure a real lasting victory, and not A fake victory.
