Rabbi Nachman’s tzion in Uman to Undergo $2 Million Renovation
The 1,800-square-meter project will add new prayer halls, a women’s section, facilities for Kohanim, and modern amenities to better serve tens of thousands of annual visitors.

The tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in Uman, Ukraine, is set to undergo major renovations at a cost of over $2 million. The project, managed by the Breslov Union in Uman, aims to significantly upgrade the site, which attracts tens of thousands of worshippers each year, especially during Rosh Hashanah. Work is expected to begin this coming winter.
The renovation plan covers an area of 1,800 square meters and addresses long-standing challenges faced by visitors.
Key improvements include:
Organizers describe the project as a “revolution” for visitors, allowing worshippers to focus on prayer and Torah study in a more orderly and safe environment. They emphasized that careful checks have been made to ensure no damage to existing graves in the area.
Due to the high costs, alongside the site’s ongoing annual maintenance of more than $800,000 and Rosh Hashanah preparations exceeding $350,000, the Breslov Union is planning a large fundraising campaign.
They hope to launch the renovation this winter (5786/2025) and complete it swiftly to benefit the many visitors from around the world throughout the year.
