According to senior Egyptian security sources, Israeli advances could drive up to one million Palestinians southward, overwhelming Rafah and spilling into the Sinai Peninsula. “We see this as a direct threat to national security,” a high-ranking official told the Qatari daily Al-Araby al-Jadeed. “A mass crossing would transform the humanitarian crisis into a domestic Egyptian problem. Hamas issued a defiant response, accusing Israel of sabotaging mediation efforts. “The Zionist government insists on continuing the war and escalating in Gaza City,” the group said in a statement. “Netanyahu’s disregard for the mediators’ proposal proves he is the true obstacle to an agreement.
