On Saturday, June 21, 2025, an Iranian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone struck a two-story residential building in Beit She’an, a city in northern Israel, causing significant damage but miraculously no injuries. The attack, which marked the first Iranian drone to impact a populated area since the escalation of the Iran-Israel war on June 13, triggered widespread alarm as sirens blared across northern Israel, the Golan Heights, and the southern Arava region.

Israel’s emergency response service, Magen David Adom (MDA), swiftly arrived at the scene, confirming that no casualties or injuries were reported despite the drone’s destructive impact, which left a gaping hole and a large crater in the residential structure. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) noted that attempts to intercept the drone in the Arava region were partially successful, with one drone downed, though the Shahed-136 in Beit She’an evaded air defenses. The IDF continues to investigate the incident, highlighting the drone’s ability to carry a 30-50 kg explosive warhead, proving the potential for severe harm.

The incident, described as the most significant event of the day in Beit She’an, has been hailed as a miracle by local residents and officials, given the absence of casualties amidst the extensive property damage. This event follows a series of Iranian retaliatory strikes, including ballistic missile and drone attacks, in response to Israel’s ongoing air campaign targeting Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure, which began earlier in June.
