Rachel Goldberg is engaged
Ten months after the death of Captain (res.) Rabbi Avi Goldberg in Lebanon, his widow Rachel Goldberg has announced her engagement to Aminadav Rotenberg, a widower and substitute principal at Himelfarb High School, where Rabbi Avi once served as school rabbi.

Rachel Goldberg, widow of Captain (res.) Rabbi Avi Goldberg, who was killed in battle in Lebanon ten months ago, announced her engagement to Aminadav Rotenberg, a school principal, last night (Thursday).
Rabbi Avi, who served as a military rabbi in Battalion 8207 of the 'Alon' Brigade (228) and was the rabbi of Himelfarb High School, left behind Rachel and their eight children. Rotenberg, a widower with three children, lost his wife, Noa, to cancer several years ago. He has served as an educator and coordinator at Himelfarb High School, where he was recently appointed substitute principal.
The couple plans to blend their two families, Rachel’s eight children and Rotenberg’s three, marking a new chapter of hope and resilience.
The couple shared their joy in a statement: "With great excitement, we announce our choice to build a new home. May Noa and Avi spread a canopy of love and peace from above, and may God guide us and our children on the right path. We pray for good news for all the people of Israel."
In a past eulogy for Rabbi Avi published on Israel National News, Rotenberg praised his colleague’s dedication as an educator, rabbi, and musician, noting the profound loss felt by the community. He highlighted Rachel’s strength, saying she understood the magnitude of Avi’s legacy better than anyone.
Rachel is a violinist and many of her children are musicians. Even after their devastating loss, they visited hospitals and grieving families to play muisc for them and lift up their spirts, and they moved an entire nation.
