The APV containing the eight soldiers killed yesterday (Saturday) was destroyed by an RPG which set off a number of secondary explosions, according to an initial IDF inquiry reported by Kann 11 News.

According to the report, the APV, which contained combat engineers, was struck by a rocket which detonated the engineer's explosives and mines, ensuring the death of all those inside.

Although IDF armoured vehicles have the Windbreaker system which generally fends off such attacks, it reportedly did not work this time due to the attack being at very close range.

The terrorist suspected to have fired upon the vehicle was killed.
