UNITED NATIONS — In a rare diplomatic move, Israel has ordered Jonathan Whittall, head of the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Judea and Samaria, to leave the country by the end of the month, citing direct links between the agency and Hamas operatives.

The decision was announced Wednesday during a UN Security Council session, where Israeli Ambassador Danny Danon presented intelligence materials linking senior OCHA personnel to Hamas. He accused the agency of abandoning its neutral, humanitarian mission and becoming a mouthpiece for a terrorist organization.

“This is no longer a humanitarian organization. It has become a propaganda tool for Hamas,” Danon told the council. “It uses false data and incitement while operating under the UN’s umbrella to harm Israel and damage our standing in the international arena.”

Sanctions and Visa Revocations

As part of a broader crackdown, Israel is launching security screenings for hundreds of OCHA employees and has signaled it will not renew visas for additional senior staff.

Danon emphasized that Israel will not allow “anti-Israel activity disguised as humanitarian aid,” regardless of the organization’s international affiliation.

“We will not remain silent in the face of lies, incitement, and terror — even when it comes from official UN bodies,” he said.

The expulsion of Whittall marks one of Israel’s most assertive moves to confront what it sees as UN complicity in anti-Israel narratives, particularly regarding Gaza and the Judea and Samaria
