White House Holds Urgent Meeting on Postwar Gaza Strategy
US President Trump to chair crucial White House meeting on comprehensive post-war Gaza plan, focusing on hostage negotiations and regional stability amid ongoing conflict.

US President Donald Trump will chair a major White House meeting this Wednesday to discuss a “comprehensive plan” for postwar Gaza, White House special envoy Steve Witkoff announced. The plan, reportedly aimed at managing Gaza after the ongoing conflict, signals Washington’s continued involvement alongside Israel, while opposing further partial hostage deals.
Witkoff emphasized that Hamas has already signaled openness to a phased ceasefire and hostage release, but Israel has rejected the proposal. The envoy said the US and Israel remain aligned on securing the return of all hostages before any broader arrangements, warning that political or military maneuvers alone will not resolve the crisis.
The meeting comes as Israel plans to take over Gaza City and potentially refugee camps in central Gaza, with Netanyahu insisting this is necessary to dismantle Hamas’s remaining strongholds. Witkoff described the Strip as a “demolition zone” with ongoing military hazards, while also stressing humanitarian efforts, including planned aid deliveries.
Trump’s administration is simultaneously exploring broader diplomatic initiatives, including negotiations on the Abraham Accords, Russia-Ukraine, and Iran nuclear talks, aiming to resolve multiple conflicts before the end of the year. Witkoff framed the Gaza plan as part of a “robust, humanitarian” effort to stabilize the region and secure the release of hostages, while keeping international partners involved.
