They shot him in the throat because they had no other way to silence him.

Charlie Kirk was the young voice of America. He made conservatism cool. A one-man revolution. He made going to church or synagogue into something necessary, possible, and exciting. He took conservatism from defense to offense. The moves that Andrew Breitbart and Ben Shapiro began, he transformed into a massive movement. And they had no other way but to shoot him while the microphone was in his hand, into the throat, so that the last word he spoke to the crowd was: “Violence.”

Charlie Kirk was the beautiful face of America. A good kid, sweet, kind, he was also important for American conservatism because, in light of the strange things that began happening after Trump’s reelection in 2024, he became the unifying voice on so many issues. The sane voice. On immigration, on Israel, on national security, and even on foreign policy, he always managed to maintain a fair middle ground, to create a big tent grounded in peace, within his own camp, as he wished for America. Like Abraham, he had an open tent where he offered grace and wisdom.

Kirk must also be remembered as a man who understood ideas and understood politics. He understood the need to create de-radicalization, that there is no place for radical Islam, for Marxist socialism, for antisemitism, for racism, and that a conservative or Republican America could indeed be built precisely through a national and religious discourse.

He sought to build a new language. That is one of his legacies. His death must mark the beginning of a new era.
