Israel’s prolonged heatwave is set to intensify in the coming days, with meteorologists warning of extreme heat stress across all regions. Historic temperature records dating back 83 years could be broken in the northern valleys, including the Sea of Galilee area, Beit She’an Valley, and the Jordan Valley.
According to Dr. Amir Givati, head of the Israel Meteorological Service, temperatures in Jerusalem and Safed are expected to exceed 40°C, reaching 41°C. Some areas in the Upper Galilee and Golan Heights may also see historic highs.
Today (Monday): Slight temperature rise. Weather will remain hotter than average, ranging from warm to scorching in the mountains and inland, and humid along the coast. Afternoon local showers possible, mainly in the south. Forecast highs: Tel Aviv - 33°C, Jerusalem - 37°C, Haifa - 32°C, Tiberias - 40°C, Safed - 40°C, Beit She’an - 43°C, Ein Gedi - 42°C, Beersheba - 38°C, Mitzpe Ramon - 38°C, Eilat - 46°C.
Tuesday: Another small rise in temperatures, with extreme heat continuing nationwide. Afternoon local showers possible in the south.
Wednesday: Further temperature increase, with severe heat in most regions and heavy humidity along the coast. Afternoon showers possible in the south and east.
Thursday: Heatwave persists, with extreme conditions in mountains and inland areas, and high humidity along the coast.
Meteorological authorities are urging the public to take precautions against heat stress, stay hydrated, and avoid prolonged outdoor activity during peak hours.
