Jewish-American comedian Jerry Seinfeld compared the Free Palestine movement to the white supremacist Ku Klux Klan during an event at Duke University on Tuesday, and went further, saying pro-Palestinian supporters are worse.

At the event, attended by Israeli hostage survivor Omer Shem Tov, Seinfeld declared:

"For me, 'Free Palestine' basically means you don’t like Jews. Just say you don’t like Jews. When you say 'Free Palestine,' you’re not admitting what you really think. So compared to the Ku Klux Klan, I actually think the Klan are a little bit better here, because they just say: 'We don’t like Black people, we don’t like Jews.' Okay – at least that’s honest."

Seinfeld has clashed with Anti-Israel hecklers. At a show in Sydney last year, a protester interrupted, calling him a "genocide supporter." Seinfeld shot back sarcastically: "Ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got a genius here. He solved the Middle East! It’s Jewish comedians, that’s the problem."

In February, at an event marking 50 years of Saturday Night Live, when asked to pose in a selfie while saying "Free Palestine," he replied: "I don’t care about Palestine."
