IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir gave a speech today (Wednesday) at the Lebanese border, where he outlined the IDF's new strategic policy:

"The reason we are here today is because we changed the security reality in the northern sector. The achievements are unprecedented - since the ceasefire, over 240 terrorists have been eliminated and approximately 600 airstrikes conducted. Today we are preserving our achievements in order to protect the northern settlements - this is thanks to you.

"We are in the midst of a significant period. The central mission of all of us is to maintain state security, citizen security, and the defense of northern settlements.

"This morning we approved plans for conquering Gaza and now we are in Lebanon. In parallel, we are operating in Syria, Yemen, Judea and Samaria, and monitoring what is happening in Iran. We are in a multi-arena war, adapting concepts to threats. We are in all arenas - launching attacks, everything on our initiative.

"We are on the front lines, we are offensive and constantly thwarting threats. We carry this out in all arenas - we identify a threat and eliminate it. Our offensive approach and initiative are at the center.

"Take advantage of this period to fulfill the mission alongside maintaining and improving the spirit and readiness of the unit. Many additional challenges await us ahead.

"Our role is to shape our national security as we see fit. We will not go backward. We are operating according to a new strategic concept - we will not allow threats to grow. We will work to strengthen the operational readiness of the fighters and build their capability to carry out missions.

"In the name of the residents who live here in the sector, in the name of the IDF - I trust you, your alertness, and your vigilance."
