General Michael Erik Kurilla, Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), concluded his tenure over the weekend of August 9-10, 2025, marking the end of a significant chapter in U.S.-Israel military cooperation. As part of his farewell, Kurilla visited Israel weeks ago as the official guest of IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, who lauded his contributions to Israel’s security and regional stability.
During the visit, Zamir expressed deep gratitude for Kurilla’s leadership, particularly during the “Swords of Iron” War and Operation “Rising Lion,” which yielded notable operational successes. “The IDF views its relationship with the United States military to be strategically important, providing an operational advantage in the Middle East,” the IDF stated, underscoring the critical alliance. Zamir praised Kurilla personally, saying, “You are a true friend of Israel.
